SEATTLE TO RUSSIA (CROSSING) Sept 26th to Oct 5th 2011


SEATTLE....ALL ABOARD 3.00 PM

AFTER OUR DEPARTURE FROM SEATTLE WE SAILED THROUGH PUGET SOUND  AND DISEMBARK THE LOCAL PILOT AT PORT ANGELES, WE CONTINUED TO THE NORTH
IN THE JUAN DE FUCA STRAIT AND EMBARKED  THE CANADIAN PILOTS. DURING THE
NIGHT WE SAILED THROUGH HARO STRAIT, BOUNDARY PASS AND THEN INTO THE
STRAIT OF GEORGIA TOWARDS SEYMOUR NARROWS, SAILING THROUGH THE NARROW PASSAGES DISCOVERY PASSAGE WE TURNED TO THE WEST AT
CHATHAM POINT HEADING INTO THE JOHNSTONE STRAIT.
WE WILL TURN TO THE NORTH TO TRANSIT BLACKNEY PASSAGE, ONCE THROUGH
BLACKNEY WE WILL TURN INTO THE NORTH PACIFIC OCEAN

THE ALEUTIAN ISLANDS    
Today we will carefully cruise between the chain of more than 300 small volcanic islands, begining with Unimak Pass, at approximately 11 a.m.. Prior to 1867 the Aleutian Islands were known as the
Catherine Archipielago. These montainous islands are located in the south of the Bering Sea, forming
an arc between Siberia and Alaska .Local tidal streams and currents are complex in addition to being
strong in all the passes runing at rates of up to 12 knots
