NEW ZEALAND , AUCKLAND FEB 2nd, 2008 Saturday

Highlights of Auckland

Auckland magically combines modern and cosmopolitan influences with engaging Polynesian ways. Cross the Harbour Bridge—3,200 feet of steel linking North Shore to downtown—on a return trip that will take you past Westhaven Marina. You'll view the thousands of pleasure boats that give Auckland its City of Sails nickname. Next you will take the waterfront drivepast the sandy beaches of Okahu Bay and Mission Bay. Catch a panoramic view of the city and Hauraki Gulf with a photo stop—then proceed through the Auckland Domain's 200 acres of parkland in the heart of the city, with ponds, statuary, glass houses and a great variety of trees. Set within this idyllic retreat is the Auckland Museum, housing an impressive collection of Maori and Pacific Island artifacts. Also of interest is the Scars of the Heart exhibit, which depicts New Zealand's involvement in the major wars of the 20th century. Drive through historic Parnell Village before returning to the ship.
