ITALY, NAPLES , SORRENTO AND AMALFI Tuesday April 14th, 2015

The Amalfi Coast & Sorrento

Ride along the fabulously scenic Sorrentine peninsula to the enchanting village of Sorrento. Upon arriving in Sorrento you will see a woodworking demonstration. Furniture, embroidery, mosaics and porcelain can all be found here. Next enjoy some free time in the heart of the town, rich in typical local produce, interesting sites of cultural interest, and fashionable shops. Enjoy a lunch of local specialties; then, from Sorrento the coach will make its way along the renowned Amalfi drive. Take in panoramic vistas, including the view over Positano, as you make your way to Amalfi Village. You will hear about the history of this lovely village—one of the oldest maritime republics of Italy—and enjoy some free time in the village, the harbor area, or inside the imposing local cathedral. On the way back to Naples, visit the craft center situated at the foot of Mount Vesuvius to see a cameo-making demonstration, time permitting.
Notes:
Expect traffic delays. Due to the one-way route for tour coaches driving the coastal road, guests will be asked to switch sides half way along the route to allow all guests to view the coastal scenery. Your cooperation is appreciated.

TORNA SORRENTO
Vide ‘o mare quant’è bello,
Spira tantu sentimento,
Comme tu a chi tiene mente,
Ca scetato ‘o faie sunnà.

Guarda, gua’, chistu ciardino;
Siente, sie’ sti sciure arance:
Nu profumo accussi fino
Dinto ‘o core se ne va…

E tu dice: “I’ parto, addio!”
T’alluntane da stu core…
Da sta terra de l’ammore…
Tiene ‘o core ‘e nun turnà?

Ma nun me lassà,
Nun darme stu turmiento!
Torna a Surriento,
famme campà!

Vide ‘o mare de Surriento,
che tesoro tene nfunno:
chi ha girato tutto ‘o munno
nun l’ha visto comm’a ccà.

Guarda attuorno sti Sserene,
ca te guardano ‘ncantate,
e te vonno tantu bene...
Te vulessero vasà.

E tu dice: “I’ parto, addio!”
T’alluntane da stu core
Da sta terra de l’ammore
Tiene ‘o core ‘e nun turnà?

Ma nun me lassà,
Nun darme stu turmiento!

Torna a Surriento,
famme campà!

Torna a Surriento,
famme campà!

English translation ("Come Back to Sorrento")

Look at the sea, how beautiful it is,
it inspires so many emotions,
like you do with the people you look at,
who you make to dream while they are still awake.
Look at this garden
and the scent of these oranges,
such a fine perfume,
it goes straight into your heart,
And you say: "I am leaving, goodbye."
You go away from this heart of mine,
away from this land of love,
And you have the heart not to come back.
But do not go away,
do not give me this pain.
Come back to Surriento,
let me live!
Look at the sea of Surriento,
what a treasure it is!
Even who has travelled all over the world,
he has never seen a sea like this one.
Look at these mermaids
that stare, amazed, at you,
that love you so much.
They would like to kiss you,
And you say: "I am leaving, goodbye."
You go away from my heart,
away from the land of love,
And you have the heart not to come back.
But please do not go away,
do not give me this pain.
Come back to Surriento,
let me live!

Vuelve a Sorrento

Mira el mar, qué hermoso es,
inspira tanto sentimiento,
como tú, que a quien miras,
aún despierto lo haces soñar.
Mira aquí estos jardines,
huele estas flores de naranjo,
un perfume tan delicado
va directo al corazón...
Y tú dices: "¡Me marcho, adiós!"
te alejas de este corazón,
de esta tierra del amor:
¿Tienes el corazón para no volver?
¡Pero no me dejes,
no me des este tormento!
¡Vuelve a Sorrento,
hazme vivir!
¡Mira el mar de Sorrento,
qué tesoro tiene en su fondo!
Quien ha recorrido todo el mundo
nunca ha visto algo igual.
Mira alrededor, estas sirenas,
te están mirando, encantadas,
y te quieren tanto;
te quisieran besar.
Y tú dices: "¡Me marcho, adiós!"
te alejas de este corazón,
de esta tierra del amor:
¿Tienes el corazón para no volver?
¡Pero no me dejes,
no me des este tormento!
¡Vuelve a Sorrento,
hazme vivir!
