MURCIA Y FUENSANTA

Murcia & Fuensanta Monastery

From Cartagena port, the ride to the city of Murcia takes approximately one hour. Along the way, you will see the La Manga del Mar Menor in the distance—an open, natural part of the Mediterranean coast where many summer homes and fine resorts are located. Your first stop is the Monastery of the Virgin of Fuensanta, offering a sublime view over the region of Murcia. This area is best known for its fruit orchards and vegetable farms. Once in Murcia town, visit the restored Casino de Murcia, an eclectic building whose original purpose was not gambling, but rather a meeting place for Murcia's high society. Next, you’ll visit the cathedral—an intriguing architectural blend of Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque design. Time permitting, relax at a local cafĂ© (at your own expense) and people-watch, or browse in the nearby shops.
